A Gentleman in Moscow
Author: Amor Towles
Genre: Historical Fiction
Year: 2016

Genuinely one of my favourite reads in a very long time which got me back in to frequent reading. Towles prose can seem a bit rambly to some, but I eat shit up like that and try to replicate it in my own writing.
Some might look at a page and a half that is just a footnote as a negative but it's an absolute boon personally with the book's setting. Early 20th century Russia during the rise of the USSR is genuinely so interesting that I devour any additional context even if it's about the operation of bloody municipal government.
Count Alexander Rostov is just a simply likeable character in his eccentricities that it was difficult to put the book down. Not for everyone, but definitely for me.

My current watch that I'm investing my time in. I won't lie, it's not amazing.
It is one of the most visually striking TV shows in recent times, the aesthetic of the different planets in the Galactic Empire are very distinct. Especially with the focus on Trantor with the contrast between the underlayers of the city planet and the Imperial Palace. The mural is to die for stunning.
The plot does leave a lot to be desired. I'm only halfway through Season 2 so cannot comment much further but there's a clear deliniation between where an Apple original storyline tries to tie in with Asimov's original plot. And once again because I am nothing more than truthful, yes I did pick it up for Lee Pace and the Cleonic dynasty and I am glad I did.

Genre: Indie pop

Favourite song: Man

The definitive current backbone of my September/October playlists. The bird and the bee has such dreamy sound, especially on this single that just feels like autumn to me. The early 2000s indie pop sound has always defined September for me, especially with a return to uni. 'Man' has been my go to walk around song in the city, just makes me feel happy.

Another 2007 album, shocker. I definitely don't have a certain era that rules autumn for me. I don't think 'Ribbed Music' has the same timeless sort of feel that 'Please Clap Your Hands' by the bird and the bee has, but it certainly has his own merits as a snapshot of the era. Wrapped up in a big leather jacket listening to 'Bang Bang Bang Bang' while stomping through the city like some character in an early 2000s British sleazy drama is too much fun.
'Prince Harry' specifically is my favourite on the album for being so purely catchy but also a supreme snapshot of the era this album comes from. Prince Harry being the example of a Brit heartthrob? Definitely a byproduct of the time. lol.
